yoga

Today was my first day of cross-training (last week I was out of town and considered walking my cross-training and the week before I ran a 5k). I've been a little unsure which direction to go for my cross-training workouts. My first choice would be swimming but I don't know how to swim, and I really don't feel up for the nerves/stress of lessons right now.  I also think cycling would be good but ultimately I decided on yoga. I can workout in the comfort of my own home and it's also a total body workout that can be very relaxing too.

I probably have a couple DVD's around the house already but just to spice it up I went to Target this morning looking for a new one. I found Rodney Yee's Ultimate Power Yoga. The DVD Includes: 5 workouts:
Power Foundation (15 mins)
Strengthening Sun Salutations (20 mins)
Sculpting Standing Poses (20 mins)
Broadening Back Bends (20 mins)
Ultimate Power Restoration (10 mins)

It was fun to get out the ol' yoga mat again but I was soon reminded how hard yoga can be. I worked up a good sweat and fell over at least once. lol. But it was a great workout and I was glad to get through the entire DVD. I will probably do this for a couple of weeks and see how I feel. I see there are some Yoga for Runners DVDs (on amazon) so I may give one of those a try also.
