long run sunday (this time)

The first couple of long runs will be a little weird. I'm not actually following the marathon training plan yet, I've been duplicating week 1 this week and made some edits (5k yesterday and 7 miles today which was a previous committment). Next week we are out of town on Saturday so I'll have to move my long run to Sunday again, but at that time I'll officially be on the training plan and Hal Higdon wants me to run 6. After all of this shifting around I should be back on track with regular long runs on Saturday.  (until my next 5k.)

As for today's 7 miles, it was solid but with a late start quite hot and humid. At one point I almost stripped down to my sports bra but had second thoughts about my muffin top jiggling around lol.

My goal was a 12:15 average pace with even splits. I made a 12:15 pace wristband prior to the run (with pen and ink since our internet was down) and my goal was to try my hardest to hit each mile at 12:15. There is something to be said for even splits I really feel like it reserves the energy needed to go the distance and finish strong. Unfortunately it's very hard to maintain even splits, but for me, it's an intriguing system and one I want to continue to pursue.

Looking over the splits it appears I was trying for 12's instead of 12:15's. It'll be interesting to see what happens if next time I change the pace goal to 12.

Mile 1: 12:00
Mile 2: 11:43
Mile 3: 11:54
Mile 4: 12:07
Mile 5: 12:16
Mile 6: 12:27
Mile 7: 11:38

Total Time: 1:24:03
Total Miles: 7
Avg Mile: 12:01
