I've read that it is good to have 2-3+ pair of shoes when training for a marathon. You are supposed to at least alternate between 2 pair during consecutive days of running, and maybe save the 3rd pair for near the end of the training and add it into the rotation. Well I have the pair I've been running in for a couple months and have had a brand new pair still in the box up on the top shelf of my closet. I thought today was a great day to add the new boys into the rotation. I think in a few weeks I'll buy that 3rd pair but right now I'm happy I have two pair to work with.
For my 3 miles today I decided to face the 90 degree heat and humidity and run outside. My last few runs have been on the treadmill, and with a 5k coming up Saturday it felt like a good idea to face the elements. In hindsight I probably started out too fast, I think at the time I was hoping to hold the pace, I just didn't have it in me in that regard but overall was happy to run it in the heat without walking.
Mile 1: 10:25
Mile 2: 11:21
Mile 3: 11:01
Total Time: 32:47
Average: 10:56
Check out runningwarehouse.com for some good deals. I wear the Asics 2150. They're $100 retail but I can get them there for $82.
