As I was mentally preparing last night for the 14 mile run this morning I decided to approach it the same way I ran the Half Marathon in early October when we followed the 11:30 pace leader. Since 14 miles isn't too far off a half marathon I figured it'd be a good training run to crank up the pace a bit. So, I made a pace wrist band for 11:47 splits. (not too fast but not in the usual 12's)
I met Wayne and Tish who is a friend/family member visiting from out of town. It was a GREAT run with richly detailed conversation about the Kiawah Island Marathon experience (since Tish ran it last year!) We all had a good time talking and in the end were faster than the goal pace!

Great splits, Neese! I'm a teeny bit jealous that I wasn't there with y'all, but so glad you had a good run. I still maintain that if you are running over 12 miles, you should get a medal for your run! :)
ReplyDeleteNice job on your long run!
