After 15 weeks of training I should know better and do know better how to treat my long runs. However, last night, whether it was the pitch black of night and wanting to get it over with or just plain not thinking I made the mistake of going out way too fast. So, although it was one of my fastest long runs on average, in hindsight I should of gone slower and steadier. I was out of gas by 10 miles and my shoulders, lower back and knee were all tight and bothering me. Then, it started to thunder/lightening and down pour which added a nice touch (not really). I was hoping to jog out 5 more miles (so I wouldn't have to run it today) but was only able to hobble out 2.5.
I think my knee issue is because I need another pair of shoes. I called around Monday and Tuesday and nobody in town has my kind/size! So, I'll likely order them online today and ship them overnight in order to have them by Saturday's 20 miler.

Hey chicky! You did GREAT last night. Sorry you went out too fast. :( I hope that wasn't my fault. And I agree...everything was peachy until mile 10 or so when the rain started coming down so hard I couldn't see anything in front of us!

not your fault at all!! if anything I felt we were holding you back but I understand you didn't want to get too far ahead in the black of night with the creepers out there! (that last guy that was smiling was SO weird)

Good speeds look great in review, but really not enjoying a run isn't worth it.
