My left quad has been super tight for several days now and my left knee has been bothering me for several weeks. I believe the two are connected because once my quad loosens up my knee feels fine. Yesterday I woke up to run 4 miles and limped downstairs with my tight quad and knee pain I just told myself to forget it. So, I took a "rest" day and rolled my thigh while at work and had a massage in the afternoon. After the massage I walked without a limp and felt great! Unfortunately during the night my knee and thigh/quad bothered me and I woke up to another limpy day.
I couldn't bear skipping another run so I ran the scheduled 3 tonight, but I did several quad stretches beforehand and took the first mile really easy. It still bothered me, but since it's not "broken" I'm trying to just deal with it and prepare myself for having to deal with it next week. I'm really hoping by then it will soften up and I can run like I have these last 18 weeks.
So, needless to say I'm getting a little nervous as marathon day approaches but I'm also grateful that it's still do-able and I'll just have to make it happen. In the meantime, I'm icing, resting, stretching and have a 90 minute massage scheduled for next Wednesday. Surely my quad/knee will be better soon!
